Hello Lumber jocks, This is a bird skull carved from a salvaged cedar burl, it was dug out of the ground by some machinery and I was lucky to spot on top of a huge burn pile it looked like a muddy nugget. From being burred for so long it soaked up some great colors. One day I looked at it the rite way and thought that might work for that big bird skull I wanted to carve and boy did it, my friend and I had a good time getting some sweet shots of it too. If you guys get a chance I’m always posting interesting stuff on

Cheers and a happy new year full of sawdust

Man, that thing is great. It’s amazing what time and a different angle can make on a piece of wood. Great job!

Did you freehand carve it or did you do research….and what’s your process?

Mysterious Magpie Magic!

Very FUN stuff! Getting old is a priviledge. Staying young is magical! One should strive to grow old, just don’t grow up!
