If anybody remembers, we built a room addition on the old cabin. Well, then we gutted the old cabin and we’re still working on it. We finally have the walls covered and now it’s time for trim. My favorite part. I hung most of the cedar on the walls myself. It’s just cedar fencing. My husband tounge and groved all of them at home during the week and has been working so much over time this fall he hasn’t been able to make it out there as much to work on the place. I hauled it all out there and hung them with some help from my kids too. We love it! Now if and when we ever get flooded again the river isn’t going to hurt this like it does paneling. Plus we like the rustic look.
We used Luan for the walls above the cedar. I’m not sure what I plan on doing with that yet. I could leave it, stain it or paint it. We have alot of trim to do to cover the seams and I think I have some pretty good ideas on that. I started the trim in the first bedroom with a small ledge.
I had my husband leave the hole in the wall where a window was so I could box it in and make a cabinet for my daughter. This will be her room. There is a small mirror in the cabinet too on the right side. I still need to make a door for the other side of the cabinet and I’m not sure yet, but I love the look of shutters so I might be making shutters for some of the windows too.
My husband took out the old drop ceiling and was able to vault it and raise the ceiling. I love what he did. It makes the rooms look so much bigger. He put drywall on the ceiling and I’m still mudding that too! Can’t wait to get that done. Oh and he finally finished deck off with a railing this weekend!
I slept 13 women in my cabin back in November. We had a blast! Can’t wait to do it again. Thanks for looking!
