To get my shop more organized and efficient, I came up with the idea of building this benchtop tools mobile island. All tools are wisely spread so they shouldn’t have to be moved (fingers crossed!). The countertop has been designed with a step by necessity because I already had the two base cabinets in my shop, meaning they have been recycled into this island. I call it an island, but in reality I’m using it as a peninsula. Tools can be reached from three sides and all are connected to a power bar from behind. I’m still wondering if I’ll add some kind of doors. Probably! By the way, the dimensions are 24’’ X 80’’.
All construction details and step-by-step photos are available on this page of my blog.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Best,
Serge

Great work Serge. How do you find the time to make all this cool stuff?

@David Kirtley: Thanks, David for your comment. To answer your question, I’m retired (almost 8 years) and I’m stuck with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since about 10-12 years, meaning that I don’t do very much, but I think a lot! My energy level is low, but my brain is still hot!
Best,
Serge

Great mobile shop-tool island. You’ve used up some lumber on this project and that means you have got space for more lumber! Happy New Year!
