It came out beautiful Bart. Great job. I think you told me that you used glitter for the metal flake. I am going to have to pick some up. The flakes look like little gems in your inlay. I also like how you shaped the lid.

Thanks for sharing,
Joey

Yes sir, I like see the different ways the epoxy can be used. So I take it that you are keeping this box? Every single one that I said I was going to keep I have given as a gift. I am working on a new epoxy style and hopefully I have made it creepy enough that I will get to keep it. LOL

I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I hope the New Year brings you and yours good things.

Bart, A very attaractive looking box and the blue Air Force logo really pops off the top! Am I correct that the fire protection badge was insized and filled with ‘clear’ epoxy? If not, please explain.

Ron, Thanks. Both logos are carved out using a dremel router then filled with clear epoxy mixed with different color fine glitter. I wasnt happy with the brightiness of the badge but loved the blue in the Air Force logo. Lesson is that darker colors work better I guess.

Hooyah! That looks great. Loving the epoxy method, and I think you’re right, that it does look better on darker colors, that blue is BAM! Congrats on all your time in the Air Force, and thank you for your service. – Rich

Bart, Everything about this box turned out perfectly! The inlays are very cool and the shellac finish has motivated me to try shellac for the first time. Any tips re: how to duplicate your finish? What cut strength? Sprayed? How many coats? etc??? When you post something this nice people will want to duplicate it!

Great box. Love the inlay. Would have loved to have one of those on my desk before I retired.
