This was my first project using Mahogany and it was a bit of a challenge. First off the box is made from mahogany and maple using a mixture of boiled linseed oil, mineral spirits and beeswax. On a side note I had pictures of the build process on my wife’s new camera….and the pictures were deleted. I guess I should have pulled the card before she decided to learn her new camera, oh well still love her.
Story is that I bought these machinist squares from Grizzly and wanted a beautiful box to hold them. The maple was book-matched from the behind the veil lumber blog, http://lumberjocks.com/50splinters/blog/26730. After some serious thought on how to join them I did the spline method down the middle w/ a piece of cherry and glued up.
Full details of build will be on my blog later.
Thanks for looking!!
