Sorry for my English,my understanding is much better as my speaking.
This is my latest work step by step.
I had a customer`s order who wanted a walnut inlaid pendant with real nut.Why not,I haven`t ever make something of a kind.
So I saw out the leaves and inlay the streaks. Then I use stone enamel to make the leaves green. The stone enamel is a mix based on epoxy with various additions of color and texture.
Then I grind the leaves and mount my construction. This is high time to polish my pendant.
And finally I varnish the pendant.
These are some photos of the process.Complete story in pictures you can see on my website.

Zebrano,

Your work is quite unique and interesting. This pendant is such an unusual piece and the leaves add a nice detail to it as well.

Very nice.

Thanks for the post.

You English is fine – but your work speaks for itself, in the Universal langauge of wood. Your leaves look very lifelike.

This piece is wonderful. I’m with Bill, your work speaks for itself. Your English is understandable, too.

What fantastic work! I haven’t tried to make any realistic looking items, it’s probably best if I stay away from that! :-)

Great work! Are the dark lines on the leaves in the first picture the German silver?

Yes,the dark lines on the leaves is German silver. It looks dark because it must be annealed before inlaying.

Thank you. Do you have any information on the anealing process or know where I could find such information? I have had some ideas about inlaying silver accents in some furniture pieces but wasn’t sure where to start. Annealing sounds like the first step.

Silver is quite soft metal, there is no need to anneal it before inlaying.I anneal hard metals such as bronze,German silver, brass.I anneal metals using burning gas of my range till the metal become red.
And as you understand we don`t use a wire,we use a ribbon 1-1,5 mm width.

Thanks, again for the information. I did not know about the difference between regular silver and German silver. It makes sense to use German silver.

German silver is just a name for composition of copper, nickel, iron and manganese.
