This is a waliking stick I made for a fellow up the street. Bobby is a member of the Cherokee Nation and a good guy who has had quite the run of bad luck lately so I hoped to lift his spirits a little with this gift. He loved it. It is made of an unknown wood. Yes, the copperhead skin is real. I think it is very unique. I liked it a bunch and briefly considered keeping it but didn’t. 8)

Maybe you brought some good spirits in with the gift, who knows, can’t hurt! I hate snakes so much this is almost creepy, the craftsmanship overcomes that feeling. But hey, it’s a good snake because it’s skinned and wrapped around a stick!!!! Nice work, keep it up.

I thought I found a stick like that in my wood pile out back – then it moved…

Beautiful work!

I’d have to shoot that if I saw it! Copperheads are my least favorite snake (and they really smell bad too). How did you get the stench out of the skin or does it still smell like a live copperhead?

Boy that is some kind of stink ain’t it! It did still have a little smell when I put it on but not as bad as when I first took it off. Of course it dried between taking it and then using it for this stick, it got real dry and stiff so guess what I had to do to get it to conform to the shape of the wood, soak it in water for about 15 or 20 minutes and that brought the smell right back. I am gonna guess that youu wouldn’t be able to smell it in a month or three. Thats just a guess though.

Very nice, and thoughtful. Where can a guy get one of those skins for my walking stick?
