Project Information

This is on of my lasted bowls. Got the bowl blank for a grab box off the web. Took into a local lumber yard and I was told it might be sycamore… I also did some research and I think it is apricot… So that is what I am going with. It has some wonderful character to it. On one side there is light spalting. It is 6 1/8 in Diameter, 1 1/4 bowl depth, and 1 1/2 inches tall. This is only my 5th bowl I have turned. Really happy with how it came out. It is finished with 9 coats of hand rubbed polyurethane. All comments welcome!!

Beautiful bowl. Great colour and contrast in the wood and a gleaming finish. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. I am learning that I spend so much time making stuff that I should spend just as much time finishing it to!!

I like the clean lines here, as it seems to really highlight the difference between the heartwood and sapwood, as well as the figure within the wood. Nice work David. I hope to begin bowl turning in 2012.
