Useless box

Being somewhat intrigued by the Japanese toolboxes I’ve seen here and elsewhere, I had a shot at building a box with a similar type of lid. But…as my girlie immediately identified, it’s pretty useless, as it’s only 1” deep. Oh well, I’ll call it a chisel box and be on my way. Pine 1×2’s with 1/4” plywood.

I really like this design. Being a newcomer to wood working, I have never seen a top that fits like that. Very nice job. I am definitely gonna make one of these.

This is great….I agree with Dale, not useless…..you can fit some things in their as he said and also think of the practice and learning you received in creating it! Keep working at these, nice going!

Put a nice necklace inside that box for a gift and have her call it useless!

Drills. Perfect for those because a deep box is a nuisance.

Great suggestions, thanks all. I see it being a pretty good pencil or stationary type of case, anyways lots of good ideas here

Take a catalogue and try to find a tool you can buy to give this box more meaning. Just for the box’ sake :-)
