A scaled wooden cannon I turned when I was 12 years old for a history class project . This was at home not in a shop class . My father was probably surprised I didn’t hurt myself ” I did this when he wasn’t around ” . I did have to have my father show me how to use a parting tool for the wheels . Don’t underestimate young people . LOL !

That is a great project.
I wouldn’t mind trying that myself.

That looks like an impressive result for a 12 year old! Very nice.

Neat Cannon. They are so much fun to build. I have yet to post any of my cannons. I think I will soon.

First Merry Christmas and happy New Year to everyone . marter1229 , go for it , make that cannon . I’m way past 12 now , but I remember the wheels being the hardest for me . It was my first real turning project . hunter71 , please post your cannons I’d enjoy seeing them and I bet others would too .

That’s a nice piece – and especially for a 12 yr old. Had I tried that a 12, surely something would have gotten damaged, myself and who knows what else.
Along with randomray, I too would like to see your cannons, Hunter71. Post em please.

The only lathe I have ever used was when I played around with a machinist micro lathe a friend of mine makes veterinarians surgical tools with. I had lots and lots of fun and ruin a lot of metal.

Seeing that cannon makes me really want a lathe…. maybe Santa will bring me one!
