This is my second salavagable turning. I really do not have a good sense for what the picece of wood will be like when I start turning it. In this cae the wood was quite punky and full of holes. I contunued to turn as much as I could and this is what I ended up with. It is about 3.5” high and 5” in diameter. I have not be able to turn a bead without having some serious catches, which means the piece gets smaller and smaller. In this case the bead and overall surface finsish is pretty rough, but I was afraid to go any further given the overall state of the wood.
