These were a set of night stand/mini dressers that I made for my girlfriends son. This was my first project that was made without plans, well without step by step plans. I drew up the plans and design myself. I wanted to try out dovetails and the fronts of the drawers are blind dovetails with through dovetails in the back. The case was built with mortise and tenon joinery. I try to use traditional joinery in all my projects and the only metal is in the drawer handles and figure-8 table top fasteners to hold to top on. The side panels are maple plywood. The drawer fronts are birdseye maple with a black walnut slip joint mitered frame. The drawer sides are poplar. They are finished with garnet shellac and a few coats of Min-wax polyurethane on the top.

Really nice. I’m making a nightstand right now and was wondering if my bottom drawer was too low to the floor, but yours looks fine.

Great looking night stands. I love contrasting woods and the maple and walnut combination really pop. Nice design too.

VERY eye catching. A nice proportional design and excellent choice of materials.
