Now it’s time to sit down for some serious reading …
Made from Red Oak with Aged Oak stain and a couple coats of poly. A pretty simple project overall. I had a design in my head that I wanted to make so I Googled Magazine and Rack and found one on an “Amish Furniture” web site that fit the picture in my head. Luckly, they gave the basic Dims, H x W x D and I just went from there.
The hardest part, or at least the part the stalled me was the TP rod. I really struggled on how I was going to add the rod. I had a lot of suggestions from Dad and then ones in my head, what a mess that place is. I sort of came up with a hybrid of what Dad was telling me and what I had in my head. What I did was to make two “J Hooks” from 1/2” stock and glued them to the inside of the piece. The rod just lifts up and out. No complicated routing of slots, drill holes or using a spring thingy. Just went with Occam’s Razor, “The simplest solution is often the right solution.” I think you can see them in picture 3.
BTW: Just go head and ignore the mess in the BR. The Maid has the week off for Christmas. “Yeah, that’s it.”
I think now I’ll make a new waist basket for the BR this weekend.

Nice project and great fix for the rod issue : )
ps: what’s wrong with your “waist” that you need to make a basket for it ? LOL
Merry Christmas !
-- When did quiet and quite become the same word ? I'm guessing about the same time as your and you're did.
