I wanted to test the creation of a segmented bowl from
I selected the Complex Curves bowl

Last time I tried a segmented bowl it exploded. NOT FUN.
This time I used scrap pine and performed the cuts, and glue up…

I used. Easy Wood. I have the Easy Hollower #3 full size. This actually worked well,, I want to get the Easy Hollower #1 now.. Maybe for Christmas. :-) I used the tool for both roughing and finish passes. Hunter. I have the Hunter #3 Turning tool. A challenge for inside with uneven segments. It did make short work for the outside roughing. ** Pinnacle Cryogenic. 1/4” spindle gouge. Shear cutting works great, if it is sharp on this pine.

Looks great would like picture from side. Trick with segmented bowl/forms is to do it in stages say 1/3 of hight at a time explosion will not happen lol Regards Roger in Pretoria A Blessed Christmas and a very prosperous New Year

Great job on the middle, my saw never would have had the accuracy to get that many segments with fine points where the center of the bowl is.

Turning scrap into value. I love turning, I’m about to start a segmented bowl with some spalted siberian elm firewood, milled up some sticks on my table saw, and as soon as it’s a little warmer than 20 deg outside i will cut and glue up all the rings.
