Project Information

While not officially "my project" I'd like to think I may have inspired it a tiny bit. This is a pen my nephew learned to turn in shop class in North Dakota. I'm told it's not called shop anymore - it's production something or other … but still. LOOK at what he did. He said he thought I'd like it. Well he got that right. I'm over the moon proud of him. The finish and fit are perfect and it feels great in my hand. You can be sure I'll treasure this for a very long time.

Just had to show off a bit - thanks for letting me!

I hope so Lew. He's growing into a fine young man. His school picture that was included in my Christmas package was shocking. That's not the little kid I taught to hit a baseball just five short years ago - this is a kid who wants to be a marine. He's got that determined "I know what I want look" in his face and geez he looks so much like me it's scary! It just really touched me how he wanted to do something in wood for his Aunt Betsy - it just really made me feel good.

Betsy, that is a good looking pen and one that I am sure you will be keeping for a very long time. To your nephew, some good work there and no matter what the are calling shop these days I am glad to hear he took it and will hopefully be making more things there and in the future.

If he was my nephew, I'd be bursting with pride in his accomplishments. Sounds like a great young man.
