Finished my new cane. The shaft is turned from a piece of black mesquite. The handle is turned from a piece of gabon ebony. The cane tip was purchased from Lee Valley, and the brass cane handle coupler was purchased from woodturnerscatalog.com. The finish is a french polish (Behlens Woodturners Polish) applied on the lathe, then a couple of coats of good wax was applied to the shaft.

I needed a new cane, and was not impressed with what was offered at the local medical supply store, so I decided to make my own. My shop buddy Isabella just had to get into the picture!

Now that’s one beautiful cane, well done! It has a lot of class with that wood and the brass. How long is the wood portion?
