My parents-in-law purchased an HDTV recently, and the old TV cabinet was too small for it; my mother-in-law was about to drop $200 on one at Best Buy, which of course, is not real wood, and looks blah. So, being the awesome son-in-law I am, I offered to make one for her, if she buys the wood.
So, I made a plan in Sketchup to resemble the one she had picked out, sans the drawers.
Solid curly cherry, except lower two shelves, which are curly cherry plywood, with real cherry edging.
Stained it twice with a cherry stain, two coats of semi poly, and Briwax.
I’m pretty happy with it.
The dark wood piece is the store piece, and I’ve posted my Sketchup rendering as well.
