These are Andy’s wonderful palm boxes. These are made to be similar to the idea of a “mother’s ring”. These are designed to be gifts for outstanding women in my family. The two largest plugs/circles represent the mother and father of the family. The smaller plugs on the opposite side of the curved line represent each of the children in the family. My sister has seven children, my sister-in-law has six children. My daughter has three children. My daughter-in-law has one little boy.
The sides of the boxes are walnut. The lids of three of the boxes are yellowheart. One lid is walnut. The white plugs are aspen. The brown plugs are red oak or cedar. The curved lines are walnut or poplar.
The last box has a purpleheart lid and plugs of various woods. The white plugs are aspen. The brown plugs are oak or red cedar. The curved line on the front of the box is poplar. This box makes me think of blowing bubbles. It was a lot of fun to make and I think the recipient will like it.
