Finally, no more digging through drawers and boxes to find the tool I need! It took me about 3 weeks to build this with all the other Holiday stuff coming together, but overall the project was very easy to do. I copied the plan from a ShopNotes magazine, but instead of one full cabinet I made two small ones. Otherwise I followed the magazine closely for my plans.

The cabinet is made of cheap white pine with a polyurethane finish. I used a wax finish for the final coat. The pegboard is ¼”. I made it in two cabinets simply because I knew that I would be hanging it myself and decided to make it easier on myself.

The doors are on screen rollers recessed into the bottom of the doors and they slide open very easily.

I designed the cabinet for shelves in all four openings; however, I am sure that I will not use them in every opening. I just figured that I would spend the next 30 years trying to decide how best to organize this so making it versatile was the best option. The shelves are just pine and they are adjustable.
Now I can put a bench under this and start organizing this (probably a lifetime project – the organizing I mean. I better have a bench by summer!)

Great job. I like the build in two stages to reduce the weight. Pine works great and saves money for the workbench.

Looks neat and practical. Hope Santa fills in some of the gaps on the pegboard for you.
