This is a piece of Alaskan birch heartwood. Turned green to rough, allowed to dry for 18 months and then turned to finish. Then carved and shaped using both power and hand carving tools. Buffed using hard felt wheels to close the grain and and give it a more organic, weathered appearance. Finished in simple walnut oil It’s about 14” across at the shoulder.
