Heres one of the sketchbooks I have been working on. I do not have them perfected but they are getting closer. This was a quick sample for a much nicer commissioned portfolio cover, which I will post soon. It is made with Fiddleback Makore veneer and a Mahogany spine on the interior. I have been trying to document my process better and I will try to cover it in my blog soon.
The finish is my first quick go at a french polish. I did not have much time to work on this particular one so certain things are rushed.
The problem with this one was the binding. I did not nail the spacing and the material I had I was expecting to be much thicker, not paper. The next iteration will be with leather or faux leather.
The paper is hand cut and there are two screw posts so the paper is removable.
There are other options to these and they are touched upon on my website if your interested.
Thank you for checking out my work,

Looks like a fun project. A real treasure for the artist in anyone.

I like this. My wife has been asking for a similar binder. The binder she wants me to make will only hold a few sheets of paper. I’ll be interested in your next version.
