Lacewood Frame

When I remodeled my house I saved the mirrors that were in each bathroom. They are both you basic frame-less mirrors. This is my solution. A lacewood frame trimmed in walnut with purpleheart accents. I had miscalculated the amount of walnut that I would need to wrap the frame, I never did measure the mirror, so I guess that’s my own fault. Luckily I had some purpleheart left over from another project and was able to “splice” it in along the frame. I did eventually add the mirror to it but no pictures of that. I figure it would just be a big reflection of the flash anyways.

Picture 1 – Completed frame
Picture 2 – Close up of the mitered corner
Picture 3 – The best side shot I could get to show the purpleheart splines

Thanks

That lacewood makes for an interesting look. I have been making frames for my wife’s oil paintings recently, but she wants them all painted, so I have been sticking with pine. I am going to make one from some walnut soon though and see how that looks.

Have your say...
