I love Sam Maloof designed furniture. This dining table resulted after I saw a picture of his table in his home. Next, I want to build matching dining chairs in the Maloof tradition.

You can see the complete building processing at my website by clicking the “Work-In-Process” navigation button.

Mike, excellent job on the table. I just love anything build around Sam’s designs. What type of finish did you use? Thanks for posting.

Thanks to all for your comments. In answer to some questions, I used 5 coats of Waterlox Original. Between each coat, I Scotch-Brited the surface to smooth it out and give it some “tooth” as the painters say.

Its made of Cherry with Walnut laminates at the joinery where pedestal meet top.

Beautiful design and workmanship. At our house, we, too, swear by Waterlox original. Great stuff.
