I needed a simple gift for a Christmas party so I went searching in my Lumberjocks Favorites. I found Max’s Gaggle of Reindeer lumberjocks.com/projects/3907. Perfect! Gave these two away tonight. All the ladies said “Ohhhh”
Made a copy of the Max’s reindeer, front and side views, and put them in Paint. Cropped it, printed it on heavy paper.
Cut out the outline with an xacto knife. Traced the pattern on some 2×4 material. HD probably calls it white wood what ever that is.
Put a small blade on the bandsaw and away I went. After sawing, I used my 1 in. x 30 in. belt sander with the backing plate removed. I also cut the belt down to about 3/8 in. wide to be able to sand inside the curves.
Some light sanding and a spray finish and the woodworking was done. A trip to the Hobby Lobby and I had the eyes and nose. Some CA and ribbon and I was done.
The only difference between mine and Max’s is I made two sizes, one looking each way. They seemed to look good setting side by side.
Now the wife says I need to make more for our three grown daughters. Oh well, more woodworking fun for me.

I liked it so much I tried it and wound up with an Easter bunny.
