I built this for a church in El Segundo California.
They bought a new standard electronic piano and wanted me to design and build something more fitting for their space.
The look I was going for was the appearance of rain dancing off a pond.

The wood discs are at different levels to allow sound to pass through.

Church organ facade.

Nice effect! The pond ripples are a nice parallel to sound waves.

Naill! your ” sonic rain” is the greatest woodworking project I have seen on LJ.
The idea is brilliant ! and smart too. The project is fantastic, very personal, specially wood discs as rain drops dancing off a pound… and the way you did small cross in the middle of the piano cover – very unic. Everything is so elegant! Not to mention your craftsmanship – very pro.
Congratulations! and thank you kindly for sharing.
