Had this hunk of walnut laying around and needed a quick gift box to put something else in for a friend. I first used pour on poly as a finish but didnt like the way it turned out so I re-sanded it as best I could and then put on 4 coats of Howards Feed-n-Wax and wet-sanded between each application. Buffed it real good and now its as smooth and luxurious to the touch as a fine piece of suede.
Sprayed the inside with a hot pink glitter-flake paint and will put some treasures inside and tie it closed with some jute twine.

I spent a lot of time on the “re-finishing” of this box but it was worth it.

Really like that one. Did you inset the bottom, cut it off and saw out the center like the free-form jewelry boxes then glue it back on, or did you actually router that out?
No matter, it will make an outstanding gift for a jewelry lover. And great saving of scrap!

I hate having to refinish things but it came out great.
