Until recently, working with wood has been synonymous with home improvement for me. We live in a house dating back to 1867 which has needed quite a lot of attention since we moved in 12 years back, and I am too cheap – and fussy – to let anybody else do it. Some years back we started getting close to “finished” with the house, so then we went and bought a farm house (built approx. 1830) to use as a weekend getaway.

So, I’ve done quite a lot of work with wood, but not much woodwork. Now I’m trying to change that.

This is my very first attempt at a band saw box. It was cut from a slab of oak I found in the woodshed. Cut on the bandsaw, glued, assembled and then mounted in the lathe and sanded properly round. Finished with three coats of Danish Oil.

The guy in the back just enjoys being photographed.

The guy in the back might think that would be a good place to store dog biscuits.

Nice project…......

Welcome to Lumberjocks, sounds like you have been around wood long enough that you enjoy playing with
the tools and wood a little bit. Good looking bandsaw box and you have a good start on a great site here,
hope to see a lot more of you and that bashful guy in the back.
