I am a very amateur woodworker. Dont really even know if I can really apply that title to myself. Yet.

It all started when I was fiddling around in the garage one day building some decorative bird houses for some ‘yard art’. But I had some wood leftover so I built a box. Then I thought about decorating it with something. So I remade the lid with a 1/4 raised edge stuck a picture of the family in it and poured resin over it. Gave it too the missus and it was a hit!

Since then I have made quite a few of these for gifts and on request from people who has seen them. The little treasure chest was an experiment. I wanted to see if I could make a circular shape. Its made entirely made out of recycled wood from an old packing crate.

I have never had any training and are learning so much as I go along. From my mistakes and websites like this one. Thanks for the wealth of info!!

I have since moved on to some more intricate projects. Even got a tablesaw and recently bought a second hand Craftsman bandsaw.

Great Stuff, especially as you say you’ve had no training.
