This ship measures from the bow to the sterm are 30 inch long, 3 inch wide and 5 inch high. It is built with pine wood. not nails or metal like all my other projects. A great gift for Christmas

+1 Outstanding! I use to watch my dad build model boats and ships from wood and cloth. I was always amazed at his skill.

A very fitting tribute to the ship and the 29 men who went down with her 35 years ago last month. I was in Detroit the day they held the memorial service at the Maritime Sailor’s Cathedral and heard the 29 tolls of the bell. Being in the reserves at the time, I stopped and stood at attention until they had all sounded. A little respect for brave men cut down too early.

You could do a second model of how she looks now to go with this one. She broke in half. The stern section is upside down while the bow section is upright. She isn’t deteriorated too much. You can still read her name on the bow.

I new a lot of the Navy reservists in Windsor and many of them were familiar with “the Fitz” as she was known by them due to her being the biggest thing on the great lakes.

This is the ship that Gordon Lightfoot sang about.

That is excellent! Now all you need to do is display it with Gordon Lightfoots song, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”. Magnificent work.
