BIRDHOUSES

These 3 birdhouses these are all in a lighthouse fashion with a solar light on top of each one. The big red Holland Lighthouse in the last photo has a 6 volt battery and a car flasher inside to make the solar light blink on and off about once every 20 seconds. This is one for show only, I don’t leave the battery inside for a period longer than a day at a time. This light is a DC current only solar light. This one measures 22” L X 12” W X 18” H. The middle photo is a normal shaped birdhouse with some shutters and a heart design centered on each shutter. Has a regular solar light that runs on 2 ni-cad rechargeable AA batteries. It charges during the day by the sunlight and runs the light at night off the batteries. The first photo is like a cottage on a lake with a telescoping flag pole and flag and has 4 dowel perches for the birds to sit on and 4 inch and a quarter round holes with shutters on each side of the windows along with a nice red front door with a knob setting and a pair of steps leading into the house. On the left side of the roof it is hinged at the top so just this side opens to add the bird food inside. The right side is fasten not to open. This also has a round 20” light that is seperate from the house itself, its made of galvanized white roofing material and I painted red stripes on it and added a solar light. I now have about 4 other houses all cut out and just needs painting and assembled before good weather comes hopefully next month.

Pretty nice. Are you going to actually use them as bird houses or just for display?

Now this is an upscale bird community. Solar powered houses!!!! I guess sooner or later you are going to have to upgrade to running water as well. :)

These are really nice. Gary has already posted the question I was going to ask. I run several feeding stations year round but would never have the patience to put together projects like these. The details are wonderful.

Thanks for the post.

I really haven’t decided where to put them yet. My luck if I put them out in our yard they would be gone or smashed. If I can get them high enough and really fasten them down maybe there would be a chance that they would still be here the next morning. It has happened before! I will put them out on the picnic table when the weather gets better to show. Maybe I will build some eves around with down spouts with a barrel at the bottom to have the running water effect.

Wow, those are some slick birdhouses. Being from Holland, I especially appreciate the Big Red one. Hope you can find a secure place to put them out for all to see!

a 5 year old post, and I’m STILL getting new ideas. I like the use of the solar lights!
