Cradle is made of quartersawn white oak with a hand rubbed tung oil finish. I attached a shallow holder to the bottom of the cradle to hold papers that would indicated all the children who would use the crib in the future. I got this ideas from the antique bassinet that my mom used for all of our family. This bassinet is now 61 years old and has had 53 occupants. Over the years the name of each baby was added to the bottom. Hopefully this cradle will last that long and comfort many children over the years.

Jeff. Nice looking cradle and great idea on the way to track future occupants.

That’s pretty cool. Interesting story about the bassinet.

That is a very nice cradle and a wonderful story. I feel that the story behind a piece is as important as the piece, itself. I am sure that your cradle and the bassinet will continue to be used by family members for many generations to come.
This is a really nice project. Thanks for sharing- both the project and the personal story.

Great cradle, and a great idea about tracking the users.

Nicely done. Wouldn’t it be cool to fast forward several decades and see how many lives you have touched and help nurture?

Looks great. I have no doubt that it will last at least as long as the bassinet.
