This is my retirement shadow box. I made it from teak with a coat of BLO and then 4 coats of hand applied amber shellac. I used a khaki shirt for the awards background since I retired a Chief. The carrier design is because I served on 3 carriers.

Congrats on the retirement. Nice shadow box. You should post a few more pictures. I’d like to see a closer look at the top.

brwbmf,
Are you retired? I see you have the Chiefs skull. As for the design I have to admit I have seen a couple that look similar to this and thats what gave me the idea. I built 2 prototypes out of pine to get the size and proportions right. I think I will start building these part time, I will also come up with a submarine design.

This is nice. Did you know the flag cannot be below service though? I only bring it up because I just built a shadow box and between members of the VFW and American Legion telling me what proper shadow box etiquette is, I learned that th eorder must be God, Country, Service. I never heard of any of that before. Anyhoo, I think it looks great. Happy retirement!

That is so cool. I would have never thought of that, using the ship! Seriously brilliant!!!

Beautiful work!
