Just piddling around between projects and looking for something to do with a little piece of plywood I veneered, I came up with this idea to keep my most-used screwdrivers, awls, pencils, and scale within easy reach. Top and bottom are spalted sycamore left over from another project.

I was getting ready to ask what kind of wood that was, but you answered it for me.

Keepin’ busy, huh?

That’s nice Charlie. Tools deserve to have nice housing too. Displayed in beautiful wood.

Charlie, your shop is going to be the prettiest in the neighborhood. Another nice shop piece.

Very nice Charlie. Obviously you have both form and function in this piece. And it is a nice way to “get rid” of scraps. Piddling like this beats sitting in front of the television any day.

Thanks for the post.

Thanks, guys!

I am still considering adding a swivel base to this. I’ll probably order one next time I work up an order from one of my favorite woodworking supply houses. :-)

Great idea Charlie, I would have to buy screwdrivers if i had one. Have to keep the ones i have hid, have two boys and they tend to plant them, but they never seem to grow.

A very novel storage place for your nice looking screwdrivers, scale and other tools and good use of leftover wood, which is my passion also. How did u make the perfect big hole in the center?

Sharad, thank you. The large center hole was made with a forstner bit on the drillpress.
