Toy xylophone for g-niece for Christmas. Bars are white oak, frame is cherry. Sticks are wooden balls glued to dowels and coated with rubber coating used for tool grips. From Woodsmith magazine plans.

I have really been considering making a xylophone. How does it sound? Was it hard to get it in tune?

Sounds pretty good but not in tune according to my musically inclined daughter. Tune by shaving underside of bars and/or shortening them. Very important to make all the ars from the same piece of wood (which I did not do).
