Hi, all! Since we are getting closer to Christmas, I thought I would post a nice holiday project that I designed a couple of months ago. This is my Rocking Reindeer trio. These three little rocking reindeer are fun and easy to make using a scroll saw and a Dremel and sanding disk for shaping. They are made of oak and finished with mineral oil followed by spray shellac. I love the way the mineral oil brings out the color of the oak. I was fortunate to have these featured on the cover of Creative Woodworks and Crafts Christmas Issue. I really enjoy making these kinds of projects and hope you like seeing them, too. Thanks for looking!

Thank you everyone for your kind remarks. I really liked doing these and I am working on some standing versions for next year. (I will be adding to the ‘herd’!) I love Paul’s darker versions of them, too! I love seeing how others make up my designs. It’s all part of the fun!

I hope you all have a great holiday! :)

Sheila, I have started to pick up Creative Woodworks and Crafts at Lowe’s every month. As soon as I can I’m going to subscribe to it. I remember seeing these rain deer and I want to build my wife a little set of them. I’m hoping that I can do them for her before Christmas but it may not happen. I’m right in the process of building some cabinets for my shop to try and make some more room and gain some more organization. You sure are good at what you do. You really are a fine artist and come up with some great patterns.
