The Flexible Flyer..... This is my tribute to the sled that every kid on the block had or wanted when I was young. I started making these a few years ago, and usually the inscription reads ”..family name…Flyer”. A former colleague has ordered one for each of her grandchildren….I think 9 so far….and just had me put their first names on the center slat. This young guy is named after his two grandpas, so he gets two names on his.
The sled is 16 inches long, 8 inches wide, with walnut runners and handle, and oak slats. Finished in spray poly.
Makes a great holiday decoration and family keepsake.
(FYI….one-time use stencils come from madstencilist.com)
P.S. I guess some guys wanted to see the under side construction, so…..one more picture

You little sleds are so cool. I like it when you post new ones. Could we get a picture of the bottom side?

Cute! If you want to test out the sled, you can check out http://tobogganhills.com/ for a map of local hills, and add your own for others to locate and enjoy as well. Happy sledding! :)
