Here is another castle box I made that didn’t quite come out as I expected. I inlaid walnut into the mahogany for the door and the arrow slot. Unfortunately when I looked at my result, the resemblance to a dead cartoon character, with the “X” for eyes was all too apparent. Hence the title for this particular project.

It looked a whole lot better once I put grooves in to make the door look paneled, and pulls to look like door knobs. However, I can’t help but show off such a spectacular failure. I hope everyone sees the humor in this one as much as I do.

It is whatever you want it to be. We all make mistakes, but this did not look like one to me!

the “he’s dead Jim” reference would be perfect if the castle were painted “red”’s the ones in the red shirts that seem to die as soon as the transporter hits the new planet…
