This was just some bottle stoppers and stuff I made recently. The 2 fridge magnets which are those little round things next to the two bottle stoppers were the scrap from creating the two cocobolo topped stoppers. In the first picture you will see 4 stoppers and a pen. The stopper on the far left is made of rosewood and has a cork screw inside. The next one is made of Paduak and is a standard stopper, to the right of the pen are the two made of coocbolo.
In the next photo you will see the magnets and two stoppers. The first one is made of zebrawood and the last one is faux ivory. I really enjoyed making these as well.
In case you are wondering the burnish marks on the Paduak stopper were made using twine. I do own any burnishing tools and after all it takes friction to make them. Trust me, twine is not necessarily and economical way of doing this since it burns up kind of quick. I went through about 2 inches of twine to make them. But I found out kind of late, that if I was careful and do it in stages I did not go through the twine so fast. I have wondered if I can accomplish this using guitar strings. Partially because I just wonder about certain things and partially because I am cheap. Because I can get guitar strings cheap, or at least cheaper then those burnishing tools. Plus I have a friend who plays guitar and goes through a lot of strings. I may be able to get a few for free and try this idea out.
