The purpose of this pine rack is to provide air circulation around vegetables suited for longer-term storage (onions, squash, potatoes).
If you wanted to put together a gift for a gardener friend, this one would set you back about $50 in wood and an afternoon. Here's a link to the SketchUp drawing I created for this project.
A quick note on the SketchUp drawing: I originally had diagonal cross members on the sides and back. You’ll notice in the photos I changed this up during the build to make it easier to machine.

This is perfect. I wish I had seen it about two or three months ago. I could see peppers doing really well on this. My wife will love it, if I get it on the short list.

Great design and project there. Was just thinking of making a drying rack for a couple of my friends and their gardens. Did you finish it off or just bare wood? Thanks.

Thanks for the kind replies. I’m happy to hear that you’ll be able to put those plans to use. Good luck building yours.
The idea came from Gardener's Supply. My wife likes to shop catalogs by finding things for me to build for her.
I did not finish the wood; just left it bare.

I love your design! Saw the same harvest rack at Gardener’s Supply and yours looks much sturdier. I haven’t been able to open/see your SketchUp drawing and was wondering if you could maybe email me?

I’ve noticed someone locally selling these on Craigslist, I’d rather build one then spend 300.00 on one from CL, any chance of providing a working link to the drawings? Thank you, Damon
