We were installing new tile in the entry way of our home and also installing new 3/4 inch oak hardwood flooring. We installed a tile mosaic. I had the idea to make a hardwood floor mosaic at the top of the stairs going down to the basement. The piece is framed in Walnut. The burst pattern is walnut and maple. The acorn is made of zebrawood (bottom) and bacote (top), it is 1/8 inlayed into cherry. The finish is an old favorite BLO-thinner-and slight tint. 7 coats of floor poly. I made this out in the shop by planning boards down to 1/2 inch and then gluing it (for stability) onto 1/4 inch plywood. I then nailed/glued it down when I installed the flooring. The pictures show the nail heads set in but not filled yet ( they have been since) Thanks for any comments.

Looks good. I keep hoping the carpet will tear. Once it comes up I’m putting hardwood back down and plan to do something out of the ordinary. I will of coarse have to work my wife’s idea’s into it, but it is a remodel job I am looking forward to.
