This small box idea came from an oragami book that Grandma got for the kids.
The box is made from English Walnut (base), Black Walnut (top), and Ebony (knob). I turned the pieces on the lathe. I cut out the star shape of the top on the scrollsaw after the top was turned. It is finished with shellac.
Tell me what you think, good or bad.
Thanks for looking!

original design, and nice contrast

Looking at your past projects it appears that your lathe skills are increasing by leaps and bounds. Very nice work on the lid and it’s great that you included the flaw. Rather than Japanese influences, somehow I see leprechauns or fairies dancing around this piece.

Nice box. Looks a little Halloweenish?
