Situation: She needed Pantry Storage in our stamp sized house. I needed an excuse to turn our studio into a ManCave, complete with circular saw, router table and drillpress/bandsaw table and a plethora of hand planes – bench, block and molding – oh my!
Complication: I had no room, nor tools, nor skills. But I had sketchup, whiskey, good friends like Patrick Leach and an ebay account.
Hypothesis: We should build something to justify the plethora of tools that have arrived since we bought the house. It should mildy resemble the sketch up you promised her 7 months ago.
Result: Behold, the Mantry – more baltic birch than could ever be needed to hold up 47 cans of soup. Build in 2 sections, so it doesn’t require a tectonic shift to move. Since this photo was taken, we’ve added iron on birch veneer, looks absolutely fantastic (and its getting painted, ugh), but really good practice for me.
Back panel cut, and to be added once my back has fully recovered. Thanks for looking. Rendition 2 will be more traditional built in pantry, but this will do the job for now – and one day will become some serious shop shelving!
