A gift to my mother on Mother’s Day. This was my first attempt at cabriole legs, and my first hand tools only project.

That’s a gorgeous table. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at cabriole legs. Would you say the challenge of shaping them was more or less difficult than your original expectations?

Yes, definitely sticking with hand tools only. The mindset has spread into other areas in my life, and makes me feel better about the work I do.

As far as shaping the legs, breaking it down into individual steps, and only concentrating on that one step at that time made it much easier. Down around the ankles got a little tricky, but that was because I drew the template with a radius that was a little too tight for my spokeshave. But, yes overall it was easier than I thought.

Sweet table. You should be proud of your efforts. Well executed.

You did a wonderful job on it; it’s beautiful.

I like it. I hope one day I will be able to build something similar. Thanks for sharing.
