I needed a jointer plane, so I made this one with cherry. It works pretty well too.

It should last a good while – oil it with BLO, will reduce the checking over time. Very nice job.

Keep it well oiled, and yeah, it’ll last a lifetime. I have some old wooden planes made by my great grandfather! Looks good. Oh, and Welcome to Lumber Jocks, glad to have you aboard.

Thank you everyone for the welcome and kind words. As for dimensions, it’s 28-29 inches long, and has a 2 3/8” blade. I also rubbed on some BLO and tallow.

Looks great. Is it laminated or one piece?

Great looking plane. I really like the tote.

Question: who made the iron? It looks thicker (and wider) than the Hock's or Finck's.

This plane is also laminated.
I got the iron from Lee Valley. It’s 3/16” thick and 2 3/8” wide, and bedded at 50 degrees.

Absolutely beautiful. If it planes as well as it looks, you’ve got yourself a winner.
