Dont know how many of you LJ’s support some of thoese folk not so luck as ourselves.
Our Sth Auckland W/turners Guild has for many years had several ongoing projects suporting variors groups.
This is my latest contribution to the Guilds collection.
Butterfly Boxes,
these are given to the little girls with terminal cancer, one of our lady members makes little butterflies for inside the lids, they are only 90mm dia.
Wig Stands,
these are handed to the Breast cancer foundation for the ladies who loose their hair thru Chemo, they store their wigs on thes & use them to dry out & care for the Wigs, The guild makes in the order of 300 to 400 per year
Spinning tops
These are also made for the “Kids Can” (Can being Cancer), the little boy patients love these & are also used by all the “little” visitors who get bored hanging around Hospital wards, they get spun all round the Hospital floors, we make hundreds of these each year. Once you have roughtout a say 1 metre blank you can wack these oout at about 1×3 mins straight of the skew.
I would probably do about 5 or 6 little runs of these a year. Lot of fun & a great way of keeping on top of your skew,
Do any of you guys or Gals get up to anything similar, should have maybe put htis into a forum or blog format

Excellent, inspiring work. Think I might look around here to see if anything similar is being done.
