Pagoda Box 2

The body of this pagoda is made up of curly maple with purpleheart keys, the bottom is made from cedar. The lid is purpleheart with maple keys that run through the entire miter. This serves two purposes, first it helps strengthen the joint and second it gives me something to secure the birdseye maple medallion to. The bottom of the lid is mahogany. The mahogany serves to make a lip for the lid to sit in the box.

This box was ordered by a dear friend of my family’s for her son and daughter in law. She asked for the purpleheart to tie it in with the wenge and purpleheart box I made for her daughter.

Thanks for taking a look.

Stay tuned, there are several more to come as Christmas gets closer.

Although the “pagoda 1” is great, for some reason I like this one a bit more…

Great job.

I just wanted to say thanks to those who took a moment to respond to my project. As I am sure you all know the feeling, I put a lot of pride and time into my work and it is wonderful to have that recognized by your peers. Thank you all for looking and commenting.
