Thanksgiving was great this year. We focused on the people in our lives we are grateful for. And what better way to say thank you than with wood :) The band saw box was an inspiration from Woodworking for Mere Mortals. Steve’s video demystified band saw boxes for me and I thought I would try it out. It is a chunk of my cherry tree that I pruned a couple of years ago. I saved the trimmings under my workbench. Luckily we have dry hot summers in Spokane and it was bone dry when I cut it up. This was a gift for my nurse preceptor this semester. The second is a cutting board for my friends’ apartment. I used scrap maple that I found in the shop along with some breadboard ends made out of black walnut that I found for free in a scrap bin in front of a neighbor’s house. I don’t have a biscuit joiner so I just edge glued it with some titebond waterproof glue. Hope it holds up…but if not I get the excuse to make another one.
I have been working nights lately so I need to make some more thank you…and p.s. don’t call the cops…presents for my neighbors. I seem to be most interested in woodworking at 3am. I do, however, turn off the router between 10pm and 8am. Hope it isn’t too loud guys.

Very nice. I made a similar box recently for a Christmas present.
Good job.
