I was commissioned to make a book case that fitted a space 800×800 and had a bottem shelf that was at least 400mm high to fit up to A3 size books.
The client had seen the black and white bench seats i had made and wanted me to make the case like the bench seats, its a bit different than a normal book case that it has legs and open sides rather than panel sides.
The sides are two 40mm square legs 40mm doweled to 45×22mm and 30×22mm top and bottem rails and the white slats 18×18mm and 18×25mm which are tenioned into top and bottem rails. The construction is straght forward just think of it as two side panels joined by a bottem shelf a top a recesse panel back and four brass shelf studs. The bevals on the front are cut at 60o on the table saw using the rip fence.
Made from NZ pine stained with Miratone walnut and white and clear coated with thinned polyurathan.
