The lamp wasn’t quit done in these pics but you get the idea. I was still waiting on some jewelry to go on it. It is fumed qs white oak with a simple and easy linseed oil finish topped with laquer. The panels are real mica. It has a two-stage circuit with a candleabra fixture and bulb in the bottom. It is all mortise and tenon joinery. The grid work on the two sides is half lap and the other sides (don’t know what you would call them) decorations are mortise and tenoned into the top and bottom rails. The top is held on with some embedded rare earth magnets to facilitate changing the bulb in the bottom.
I know that woodworking is supposed to be relaxing and all, which is one of the reasons I decided to start doing it, but this thing aggrivated me to no end. Nothing seemed to go right and it was much harder than I thought it would be but I like it now that it just sits there and lights the room.
