GEEZ. FOR A BEGINNER YOU SURE LOOK LIKE YOU’VE BEEN AT IT FOR A WHILE. VERY NICE WORK, I REALLY LIKE THE SHAPES AND THINESS OF THE BOWLS. YOU’RE GOING TO BE GREAT TURNER. SURE BEATS ANYTHING I MADE AS A NEWBEE. CONGRATS.

Great work on your first bowls. Nice and thin too.
The wood looks like it could be ash or sassafras to me.

Nice work David, especially since they are your first turned bowls! Nice of you to donate them as well. Sounds like the bug bit you. I had never turned anything until last weekend when I turned a pen at the Woodworking Show. I will probably be joining our local turning club at the beginning of the year and will be researching lathes even more than I have, as well as saving up for one.

Good on you ChefD, I believe you always get back more than you give in this world. I am just finishing a run of little spinning tops, & some “butterfly” boxes for the ‘Kidscan” ( Kids cancer foundation for the terminal unfortunates) plus some wig stands for the Ladies breast cancer group, this is for them to store their wigs & to groom them etc.
BTW these are very nice bowls, cant believe they are a first for you, well done that man : ))
